Etsy isn't Just for Handmade Stuff

Etsy is well known as an online website for buying and selling handmade stuff. However, Etsy isn't just for handmade stuff — you can also find some things that weren't handmade on the site.

For instance, you'll find a lot of vintage stuff on Etsy, such as jewelry and collectibles. Etsy seems to be an acceptable place to sell gold jewelry, particularly the cool vintage or retro stuff. I've also seen some people on Etsy that take vintage jewelry and remake it into something more modern — such as turning a pin into a necklace, or a shoe buckle into a chunky bracelet. I've even seen some collectible dolls and similar types of items on Etsy.

Of course, like any third party ecommerce site, sellers on Etsy are finding that sales aren't as good as they used to be. I have a friend who is trying to sell handmade beaded jewelry on Etsy, and not getting very far with it as of yet. In some cases, it might be easier for people to sell gold jewelry for cash by taking it to a pawn shop, and not having to worry about listing fees or waiting for something to sell.

What about you? Have you sold items on Etsy that weren't handmade? How well did you find that it worked?
